I received the message (outlook 2007) "your address book cannotcontain more than 1000 contacts"

I'm having trouble finding any informaiton ono this message. Can't
edit a contact and save it without getting this message. So i'm not
adding new contacts, but editing an existing one.
Outlook 2007
Windows XP Pro SP3'
