I recently installed office student and teachers edition,2003 . How do I keep
from getting down loads that I may already have ?

What downloads for your Office 2003 ST edition are you referring?
You can check which version of Office 2003 you have here:
Help menu / About Microsoft Office Outlook, etc...
first line gives your current edition.
