I suggest you throw Visio away and fire all those responsible!

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY can't I get a callout to display the text horizontally?
I copied and pasted a callout from another project (which was horizontal)
into a new project and it is vertical. I turned off protections. I tried to
rotate the shape, the shapes text. It even shows the text horizontally in the
stencil. This is only one tiny little straw that broke the camels back. Who
at Microsoft is responsible for all the damn gadgetry in these programs? Word
and Excel are the same way but I won't even use Word.

I copy and paste a connector that is strictly horizontal and vertical lines.
I try to move it and suddenly it is straight and diagonal. Why? I try to
record a macro to rotate the text in the selected shape, it doesn't work.
Why? I type text in a text box and when it wraps it capitalizes the first
letter "automatically" WHY?

Which shapes are giving you problems? (name and stencil, please)

Can you post a screenshot somewhere?

Callout, Annotation stencil. Text is vertical. Rotate protection is on by
default. I turn off rotate protection. Text will not rotate.

Midline Callout, Annotation stencil. Same problem.

Connector ? stencil? THE connection tool.

How do I post a screenshot? I'd love to. Is this because I couldn't find
where to set the layout to landscape and so I just rotated the whole sheet by
pressing ctrl and picking the corner? I bet it is.

Thanks, MVP

Yeah. I figured out the callout. It WAS because I rotated the sheet with ctrl
and pick instead of changing the layout. Of course now that I rotated it back
ALL the connections, text, etc must be redone. NICE.

File > Page Setup > Print Setup and Page tabs, look for "Landscape" to get
horizontal pages.

Sometimes page is set to "match printer" so you only have to set the printer
paper setting.

Don't know how you got those callouts to do what you did, I thought we
locked them down pretty hard back when I was at VisCorp...
