Unless you know of a particular feature in XL2002 or XL2003 that you want, I
cannot see any reason for upgrading. I still use XL2000, even though I have
XP and 2003, I just haven't bothered.

As Niek says, within a year or so, Office 12 will be out. Now that will be
very different, and everyone will be faced with a very interesting question
as to whether to upgrade or not. As the pre-release information shows, it
has a very different look and feel, and will require substantial adjustment
by those used to previous versions.

Hiya Niek and Bob,
Thanks for replying!
I can't access the internet, so could you brief me on this exciting Excel
12???
I only use Excel2000 for spreadsheets so would it be worth me waiting for
that?

Excel is all about spreadsheets Laura.

Unfortunately there is far too much to tell you, but the highlights are

- a completely new UI, which is claimed to be more intuitive (I know we have
heard that before, but it really is different)
- 1500% more rows - 1,048,576
- 6300% more columns - 16,384 columns
- 4.3 billion colours
- unlimited conditional formats
- 64 nested functions
- 32k characters in a cell
- 1M rows in a pivottable
- 16K columns in a pivottable

etc. etc

But that is just the numbers, you need to see the previews and so on to get
a proper feel.

If you don't have internet, how do you post here?
