i updated outlook and lost all my contacts and emails

i was getting too much spam, so i downloaded an outlook update (March 2006)
that supposedly would address that.

an hour later i checked my email and discovered i had no contact list
(address list) and no old emails -- they hadn't transferred over to the new
outlook. no new emails either.

how do i get all those things back?

Search for a .pst file (note it is hidden in Windows) and open it using
File->Open->Outlook data file from Outlook. Your Outlook items were not
deleted by the update. I would suggest using the All Folders view to see
your Outlook data.
