I want Excel.exe not to start when clicking Linked Excel Object on a Word doc.

Any assistance would be appreciated...

I have tried to paste an Excel worksheet on Microsoft Word with "paste
special".
When I double-click the pasted Excel worksheet in MS Word, Excel starts.
However, I do not want Excel worksheet to open when I double-click it in MS
Word.

Is there any way not to execute Excel when I double-click the Excel
worksheet in MS Word?

I thought it may be possible with CommandBars(...).Controls.(...).OnAction =
"".

Thank You.

Thank you for your reply.
Though pasting it as a picture does not cause Excel to start, that is no
more link.
Is there any other way which keeps link?

Check the 'link' box in the paste special dialog.

Thank you, but...

If checking the 'link' box in the paste special dialog,
the original problem occurs.
The problem is that Excel.exe starts when I click the linked object on word.
How do I avoid that?

That's what a link is! A link to the original application. You either have
the link or you don't.
