I want to print as a booklet in portrait

can someone please help me convince word 2002 to let me print my booklet so
the the fold is across (portrait) and not landscape (top to bottom). I even
tried starting with a new document and re-writing the 50 page document.

I had originally created this instruction guide many years ago and now that
I've updated it I'd like to print it again, but Word 2002 will not allow me
to print as a booklet with portrait orientation.

I'm not sure you can do this with the "Book fold" feature. What you are
describing is not a traditional booklet (more like a calendar?), and I don't
believe "Book fold" will handle it. You might be able to use the method for
Word 97 and earlier at
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/BookletPrinting.htm if you use
"Different odd and even" margins and add space to the Odd Page Header and
Even Page Footer to constrain your text into the appropriate half of the
page.
