Set the View to Recurring Appointments and then R-click drag and drop
them in the personal calendar, select Move option.

Cool this worked perfect. I assume that any new contact i put in will have to
be done the same way, or is there a way to set which calendar certain
contacts go to as i add them?
Thanks for your help.

You're welcome, as far as I know there is no method to "direct" them.
They will always populate the installed default calendar.

The ones added by contacts will always go into the default calendar - you'll
need to move them to the other calendar. If you edit or sync contacts they
may regenerate the birthday appointment.
