I want to take tasks and import them into an email

To whom it may Concern:

I want to be able to export a list of tasks from the list in Outlook, and
put them into an email.
The problem is that the current way looks poor and cumbersome.
I'm can only see one way right now, and that is to select ALL tasks
etc...Save As TEXT FILE only...
And then attach the text file/word doc, to that mail.

Surely there is a better way? As I do this weekly to update my line manager
of work done or coming through.

You can export your tasks to a CSV or Excel spreadsheet to send to him using
the File menu > Import & Export command. You can then clean up the output
file and send it off.

you could also try this...

Make an email, then Insert Item and select the Tasks you want to insert.
Send it to your boss.

The best solution depends on the functionality your boss needs.
