I was wondering if I could set up a poster, tiling my pages?

computers used to come with software to set up banners and posters, tiling
the pages for printing. Is this something I can do with Word, Excel or
Powerpoint? I have an older version of Publisher that Vista won't let me use,
so that is out of the question.

Or does anyone know what else I can try?

Don't know about Word, Excel, etc... however I have every version of Publisher
installed on my Vista computer. What version Publisher do you have?

Not in Word or Powerpoint. Theoretically possible in Excel, but
I haven't used Excel for this purpose, so I can't say how well it
works.

I have '97 and Vista won't even let it on the playground, let alone playing
nice

I have 97 installed on Vista Ultimate; it works okay. I use it quite often
because of its nifty templates.

we have home premium, wonder if that is the difference? We have had this
issue with many of our software programs, Vista just won't play nice...

Try the following...

To start Publisher 97 Setup, click Run on the Start menu, and type
<drive letter>:\setup.exe
where the <drive letter> is the drive containing the Publisher 97 Setup disk or
compact disc.
Fill in the Owner and Organization information.
When given the choice between Complete and Custom, click Custom.
Clear the Fonts check box.
Click Continue, and allow Setup to finish.
Because you are not installing the fonts, the Setup program skips the font
registration portion of the setup process.

If that doesn't work, install Publisher in safe mode.
