IBM Word file crashes MAC office 2004 Word

I am attempting to read a legal document with many macros and it crashes
every time. the file that I am attempting to read was created using
Microsoft Word for Windows. Normally
these files open right up. I even tried reading it into MacLinkplus Deluxe
and
translating it. Even after translating, it Still crashed my office 2004 Word.
Any ideas?

Michael,

Quit Word 2004, open it again while pressing the Shfit key and try to
open the document.
