iCalendar not always working

I use the iCalendar feature a lot, but lately I have had some that would not
send. I am thinking this may be because these dates are in the next calendar
year, but an not sure. Has anyone experienced this? I am on Outlook 2003

The year should not matter. What exactly happens when you try to send them?
Are they recurring?
