ID Numbering in Project 2007

Grateful if anyone can advise on how to re-start the ID numbering. I've
entered numerous tasks in no date order (ID's 1-57), then carried out a sort
by: Start date. ID's are now 57,36,45, 3 and so on. I'd like to restart the
numbering back to 1-57 with the tasks now in their correct date order. Many

Go to Project menu, select Sort / Sort by...
Select "Permanently Renumber Tasks"
Then set the sort criteria you are interested in.

Except, Jack, that in 2007 "Permanently" means "till you close the file"
Nasty little bug if ever there was one.

Hi Guys,

Many thanks for your help, and both of you were right! Frustrating little
gremlin that it is. I'll keep trying and if I find a work-around I'll be sure
to let everyone know.

A workaround I've found is to:
1. Go to Project menu, select Sort / Sort by...
2. Select "Permanently Renumber Tasks"
3. Then set the sort criteria you are interested in. (IE Start)

The id numbering will start from 1.

4. Select whole of the project (click on top left box) & copy.(CTRL+C)
5. Open an new blank project, & paste (CTRL+V)

The project tasks, with new numbering, will be shown.

6. File, save as.... Suggest v0.02, .03 or similar

Obviously any Formula or Graphical indicators will have to be set up again,
but these can be imported from your V0.01.
