ID problems w/installing Office 2000 Pro

Seems like I'm not the only w/problems installing Office
2000 (or earlier versions) onto my new computer. I have
Windows XP Professional. Product ID# is not being
acceptable. Says it's INVALID. I've been trying to get
thru to Microsoft to ask what's going on. So far no luck
since it requires the doggone ID to get into their system
for online support! *grrr*
