Identifying Resource Overallocation

N

NewsGroup

I have created a project plan and built a team from Enterprise Resource Pool
for the project.
After assigning the work I need to see if there is any overallocation for
any of the resource.
If there is any, then I would like to see the overallocation using Resurce
Usage and Allocation view.
This is because the same Resource is involved in 2 or 3 projects.
So I need to identify the clash and the assign the resource.
So what is the way?

Hi Meena,

You can look at the overallocation in different ways, but I would suggest
that you look at the overallocation in the "Resouce usage" view.

When you click on the resource usage view you can see different rows of
information for a resource on the right hand side, the default one beeing
Work.

When you mouse over the "Details" column and right click your mouse, you
will have a new dialog window appearing.
Please choose "Detail Styles".
On the "available fields" you will have one field called "overallocation".
Move this field to the "show these fields" and you will be able to see the
overallocation for your resource, with a detailed view of each hour your
resource is allocated by project.

I hope this is helpful

The point is different.
I created a Resource Pool and from there I imported the resources to
Enterprise Resource Pool.
But I am having some problem with the Reosurce Pool cretaed.
So, I am not able to open or view it.
So I want to know, whether I can know the overallocation with the help of
Enterprise resource Pool.?
Can I make changes to the resource calendar using ther Enterprise Resource
Pool?

Hi Meena,

I am not sure if I understand your questions, but the way to check the
overallocation for an individual is best done via the resource usage.
Should you want to check the overallocation of an deparment, I would
recommend to create a Report in the Portfolio Analyser, which will give you
great graphical reports on overallocation by department and lets you then
drill down to the individual.

To answer your question with the Enterprise Resource Pool, I dont know what
your problem is but you will need to ensure that all Gobal resources are
managed in the Enterprise Resource Pool.
