IE Crashing due to pjgrid12.ocx

Since we installed Project Server 2007 and installed the ocx files on out
PC's, when using PWA IE regularly crashes and reports there was a problem
with pjgrid.ocx.

Has anyone else experienced this problem or know of a fix?

You can try deleting and reinstalling the web components. You should also
look at what add-ins the user may have installed in the browser as these can
cause this symptom: Norton AV, Avant Browser, Google Toolbar popup blocker
and others.

I did not find re-installation helpful. I have a reproducible use case in my
environment where the pjgrid12.ocx fails when I move from a Project Center
list in one window to a MOSS2003 edit-style list in a different window. This
is using IE7. If both sessions are in tabs in the same IE7 window, I have no
problem.

You may be stumbling across a corruption issue that I've seen with IE7 and
mixed Office version environments. In this case it may be that the Office
Web components on the workstation are becoming corrupted. In order to fix
this peculiar problem you need to delete the Office Web Components and then
run the Office repair function. If this happens to solve the problem, then
your answer is to Upgrade your workstations to Office 2007 or be prepared to
deal with recurrences.

I'm stabbing at answers for you, so keep in mind that there are many
possible causes and we're not able to consider all the variables in this
conversation.

In my case the only 2003 that my system has ever seen are the 2003 Web
components installed by PWA's Data Analysis. Office has always been 2007
version.
I continue to reproduce the problem with 2003 Web Components uninstalled and
after running Office 2007 repair. I have simplified the reproduction
conditions to simply changing focus back into a separate IE7 window; no
SharePoint page required. So the bottom line is that PJGRID12 does something
strange when focus goes into a separate IE7 instance. I filed a bug into
Project Server 2007 feedback with the repro conditions which include the need
to sort by a column in the project list before changing focus. Good luck all.
