IE need to be refresh when using PWA

Dear Community,

We use Project Server 2003 SP2 (EPM) with PWA.
Our PWA users complained that they need to press Refresh buttons many times
when thay use PWA otherwise IE did not display.

Users need to press refresh button in IE 1-3 times when thay use PWA
espicially in Resources or Projects menus. Some times it not need to be
refreshed but normally needed. It getting more and more.

If we test PWA from the server directly, it's fast and do not need refresh.

Any suggestions or work around, please.

Dear Paul

Thank you for your kind response.

Between Project Server and Clients is the LAN and firewalls and routers.
The performance of the project server is Ok i.e. 1-2% CPU load.
But all components installed in single machine.
We've faced the problem for 2-3 months. PWA is working but users need to
press refresh 2-3 times when they retrive resources or projects information.

From the clients, ping the Project Server. What is the response time ie 30ms ?

How much memory does the project server have? How much is memory is
currently free ?

Is there sufficient space available for the SQL DB files ?
Have the volumes where SQL is stores been defragmented ?
Have the log files been backed up and truncated?
Are other applciations using SQL? If so, is they a heavy demand from them on
the SQL resources?

Hi Paul,

I'm System Administor on this Project Server. Our company has 3
buildings, users from other 2 buildings complaint about the connection to
Project Server and need to refresh IE for several times in each menu.

Performance on Project Server is very low,not over than 3-5%, and I can use
all menus from PWA very fast. No need to be refreshed.

I think it's the connection problem between building but Network admin
doesn't help us to investigate. Next, I will use NetMon to capture packages
between PWA client and server. There will be shown something to cause this
issue.(hopefully)

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Dear Paul

I tested ping to Project server from my own client machine; it took 2 ms.
As for as I knew the memory and space should be enough. I will check about
available memory and the free momory for your information.
There is no other application using this SQL.

Hi Paul,

My Project Server has 8GB memory and available 5GB all the time.Has 257GB
free space and no other application running on this server. This server is
only running for Project Server 2003 SP2a and SQL2k Server.

In my Openion , I think it's not the server performance issue. I will try
and will update to you again.

Thank you.
