If you purchased Office as an OEM installation, it was preinstalled,
then the OEM is *required* to provide you with the installation CDs.
This is per the agreement Microsoft has with the OEM. They supply the
OEM CDs to the manufacturer and the OEM is *supposed* to provide them
to the consumer.

Contact the OEM and request the installation CDs. However I suspect
the OEM may refuse. :-( Should that happen, please post back and let
us know who the OEM is and the version of Office you are using.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.

I can chime in here because this has happened to me. I bought a Dell
computer. MS Office XP Professional with Publisher came preinstalled. Dell
will not give me the CDs for MS Office XP Pro with Publisher. They claim
that since I bought the computer in 2001 and the warranty period has expired,
they can't send me the CDs; they claim they already did that when they
shipped the computer. I NEVER got the MS Office XP Pro CDs, and the order
sheet I have from that purchases lists MS Office XP Pro but does NOT note
that CDs were included. If I had them, why would I be bothering them? I
just want to get through a MS Office Update for SP 3!!

Have you thoroughly investigated everything that came with the computer?
Ordinarily the CDs are in a white cardboard package with a Certificate of
Authenticity pasted to it. It's a bit late to say so, but this is something
you should have done when you got the computer. In fact, when I got my Dell
with MS Office XP Pro with Publisher in May 2001, I had to use the CDs to
complete the installation and activate the product.
