if i deleted an excel document by mistake, can I find it anywhere

i, by error, deleted an excel document that I had been working on for over a
year.
can it be found anywhere and be retrived?

I would fear not. You could go to the folder shown under the autosave option
in Tools>Options... and see if there are any files in there. You will need
to do this in explorer as they will be randomly named and have no xls
extension. If there are *any* files in there try adding an xls extension.
It's a long shot as this is usually cleared when Excel exits.

Moral (unfortunately) - Back up your files at a frequency you are happy(ish)
to lose
