I have been reading many threads regarding formulas what I am attempting to
do is create a formula that will take the range of A6:A19 and if there is a
V, D, or M in that cell then pick up the number in column F6:F19 on the same
row.

Example A7 has V, A10 has D, and A18 has M so I need it to pick of the value
of F7+F10+F18 for a sum.

Is there a faster way than an IF statement for each row?

When competing hypotheses are otherwise equal, adopt the hypothesis that
introduces the fewest assumptions while still sufficiently answering the
question.

=SUM(SUMIF(A6:A19,{"V","D","M"},F6:F19))
