Hi all
I have a spreadsheet that I've been asked to have motivated and fille
in primarily by pull down menus, which fill into other cells. My firs
thought is to use validation: List in the cells. Here is my problem: a
an example, the first set of pull-downs will be a list of work stage
(ex: framing, foundations, roofing), and the second set of pull-down
would be filling in whether this would be in-house labor, or an outsid
contractor, or a vendor. The third set of pull downs would be th
actual names of vendors, subs to be picked from a data list (Ex. Joe'
Carpentry, Big City Plumbing supply, InHouse, Inc.). As you can see
the data lists could become daunting in a pull-down scenario (over 2
workstages, a hundred subs, a hundred vendors) What I wanted to do, i
see if I could make some kind of IF: formula using either the workstag
(framing, etc) or whether it was to be done by inhouse or vendor o
subcontractor (if you pick "Plumbing" from the intial pull down list
you get a list of 15 plumbers instead of 100 subs from all wor
stages)to make the pull down list from validations useable.
I hope this makes sense- if anyone has an easier way of doing thi
ouside of validations or if/then, or if i'm doing the wrong kind o
thinking on the problem, let me know.
I thank you in advance for the help.
