Illegal characters in project names?

Gary - In a 10/27/2006 reply you mentioned strange things can happen if
illegal characters are used in project names ( a dash "-" specifically). Are
all non-alphanumeric characters illegal? Is there a book or reference I can
find which explain legal and illegal chaacters.

Also, my company uses "-" in the DNS names of our MS Project server and SQL
servers. I looked but couldn't find any references on this. We have
networking issues frequently and I was wondering if the "-" in server DNS
names could couse problems.

Hi Skip W,

It's very easy to know which characters are (il)legal.
Only following characters are legal: a-z, A-Z, 0-9 and _

Also for DNS names it's a best practive not to use any other characters.
However, the "-" should not cause any problems.
