Illegal filename characters?

Using Word 97.

I am allowing users of a template to create their own save file names.
However, if the file name contains "\" or ":", for example, these
characters will be converted to "-".

Question: what other characters apart from "\" or ":" are illegal in
Windows file names? I know I have a list some place, but I can't find
it.
