illegal office changing to legal office

I recently got a message when opening any office program that my version was
illegal. Now i've bought office and want to install it, what is the best to
do?

-> install without uninstalling the illegal office
-> install, but first uninstall the illegal office, this way losing my
e-mails and preferences

Uninstall everything associated with your present Office install after saving your
Data and then install the new Retail version which you finally paid for

Uninstalling Office does not lose data, which in any case should have been
backed up
