ILLEGAL OPERATION messages in WORD

When I open WORD either a new document or an existing one
I get: This program has performed an illegal operation and
will be shut down....

WINWORD caused an invalid page fault in
module WINWORD.EXE at 018f:30395c27.

I've seen similar messages from time to time. Normally re-
booting clears it, but not this time!

I often wonder if EXPLORER has an involvement.
