Illegal operation, shot down

L

Len De Rossi

I have an eTower 500is (eMachine) PC with Windows 98.
After infested with a virus, I restored the system, and re-
installed the security updates for IE(6.0.2800.1107 SP1;
Q818529; Q330994; q313829) and Office 2000 (SP-3
9.0.0.6627).

Outlook contacts are being shared with Windows Address
Book. After that, I have no problems handling the Contacts
records with the Address Book application. But when I
open the Contacts with Outlook, the [Save+Close] button on
the standard toolbar, is shown duplicated (one next to the
other) and the application prevents any corrective action.

I may open the Contacts, scan over different views, sort
them, open individual records with no apparent problem,
but when I either try to save or exit, the application
crashes, with the following message: "This program has
performed an illegal operation and will be shut down".
The following detail explanation is given:

OUTLOOK executed an invalid instruction in module
<unknown> at 0000:01204a66.

I was not able to find an answer within the Knowledge Base
Search. Thanks for your help.
