Illegal Operation while using Office 2000 Pro Applications in Windows 98

Recently I am having problems with a computer that is
running Windows 98 Second Edition, while using Office 2000
Pro. This problem has only been noticable in the last
month. We have run defrag, deleted all temp internet
files, disk clean-up, etc. The error message we are
receiving is "Illegal Operation" and the program will be
shut down, and the computer is freezing up several times a
day now also. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Have you applied the latest Service Pack and patches for Office 2000?
