Illegal Operation

Word 2000 causes an invalid page fault upon opening.
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing it several
times. It doesn't remedy the problem
I bought this copy of Word 2000 in 2000.
I can't ask a technician because I can't open Word to find
the Product ID, the one on the CD for Microsoft Works
doesn't work, and the one that you get if you open Word
itself (on the opening screen, which I can get by clicking
"open" and then hammering printscreen, then copying and
pasting it into Paint before copying it down) doesn't seem
to be valid anymore.
The message that graces my screen:

WINWORD caused an invalid page fault in
module WINWORD.EXE at 017f:303e4fbd.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to simplify things
for me if you do respond, because I'm no good with
computers.
