I'm cryin' here -- please help with pivot tables

I posted the following message yesterday, but got no responses. I'm an
infrequent Access user, but I've become so dependent on this group for help
when I get stuck. Can anyone give me a little insight? Thanks so much!!!

I've been creating pivot tables in Access 2000 but just upgraded to Access
2003 and can't seem to get on board.
As a simple example to get me started, suppose that I want to count the
number of occurences for a given event for each day of the week. With 2000,
I would drag the Day of Week field to the left hand margin and would select
"Count" for Day of Week and drag it to the center of the table. How would I
do this in 2003?
Thanks so much,
JoLeigh

Just in case you haven't yet figured this out...
Haven't used them for a while; I see what you mean.

When you drag the field to the row area, it makes the groups just fine?
But then when you drag the same field to the data area, it removes it from
the row area?
If you are wanting a count, try this: Drag the desired field to the row
area, then drag the primary key field (or some other field you can count on
to contain a value in each desired record) to the data area. This will list
all of the details; but you want a summary.
Then you have to right click on the field name in the data area, and use
that menu to select a calculation. Lastly, you right click again to Hide
Details.

Post back as to whether that works for you!

Frank,
Took a little holiday from pivot tables --
You saved the day! This works.
Thanks so much.
