I'm loosing a few marbles over this one...

I changed something in 'Word Options' that caused undesirable effects, and
now I can't figure-out how to revert back. I use Word as my editor for
Outlook e-mail. My signature is a graphic. It used to display fine; After
changing 'Word Options' ('Editor Options', to be precise) it now displays as
a blank box. If I select the graphic then change Text Wrapping something
other than 'In Line with Text' (the default), then it displays fine. I
tried restoring all the 'Word Options' settings, but apparently I'm missing
something.

I'm loosing my marbles over this one! Can someone help me understand what's
going on?!

Thanks!

The options that need attention are in the same dialog, but in the "Show
document content" section. Make sure that "Show picture placeholders" is
unchecked and "Show drawings and text boxes on screen" is checked.

Jay,

Thanks very much. That advice seems reasonable & good, and I'm sure it's on
the right track. Unfortunately... ...I need to ask a bit more help -- both
items are set as you described (and problem still exists).

It might be worth it to note, however, that there is a slight difference in
that 'Editor Options' (within Outlook) include just a subset of items
included in 'Word Options'. In particular, the items "Show picture
placeholders" and "Show drawings..." are not included in 'Editor Options'.
I've been assuming that the 'Word Options' actually do apply in Outlook, but
maybe that assumption is inaccurate (?).

Other ideas?

Thanks Again!

You're correct that I was looking at the options dialog in Word 2007, not in
Outlook 2007. However, the same two options really are in Outlook's Editor
Options dialog, in the section labeled "Display e-mail content".

Also, the editor you're using in Outlook isn't Word itself (which was the case
in previous versions of Office) -- it's a separate code file that contains
Word's functionality, slightly modified for Outlook's requirements. The options
for the Outlook editor are stored separately from those of Word.

Jay,

Thanks! You nailed it!

Interesting to note that I had to search a bit for the options you
mentioned. There not listed among options at "Tools | Options | Mail Format
(tab) | Editor Options (button)". I finally found them at (pardon the
notation) "New Message | (Windows icon in upper-left corner) | Editor
Options (button)".
