I'm setting up fax from scratch-what do my fellow users recommend?

Bobby Taylor

Hi!
I need to set up my PC to receive/send faxes, I run my realty business out
of my home. I have a dedicated regular phone line, I don't NEED to use this
line for voice calls, although it might be nice to be able to occaisionally
use the line for voice calls, too.
Anyway, here's what I'm really asking: Which set-up or program do my fellow
users recommend? I set up the "Windows built-in fax" (I'm running XP it's
anew PC) so if that is an acceptable fax program, I'd like to keep it. I work
A LOT with Office, mainly Excel, what do you recommend as the best "set-up"
for sending Office docs out as faxes? Really, I guess if you like how you're
fax works-tell me about it, especially if you have had luck with the
"built-in fax" I will say that if I'm hearing that this XP fax isn't very
good, I won't hesitate to get a different fax program-this is important to my
business!

Thanks for everyone's help!!!!!
Just takin' it One Day at a Time-and feeling good!

The XP fax works great. To send any document, go to File/Print and choose
the Fax. An easy wizard will appear to send the fax.

The XP fax is better because

1. It's free.

2. You can email the .TIFF files that XP converts faxes into without the
receiver having to have a "winfax viewer".

You have to bear in mind that the OP is running a realty business, not just
sending the occasional fax..

Remember, WinFax does NOT work with Outlook 2003 and has issues that require
you to pay $29.95 in addition to the initial layout for the program (~$100)
to "upgrade" to version 10.03 that *may* not have issues with Office 2003.

I would also look into an Internet based faxing service such as eFax.

Thanks for the great advice! This was my FIRST posting here and I'm so
pleased with the response! I'll be not only posting more ????'s but also
looking for some ???'s that I can help out with! Anyway, I'll run the XP fax,
it looks like it should be what I need for now. If anyone comes up with any
other ideas-feel free to add them on!

Thanks Again!
