I have a class were I create an Access DB. I cannot save it to my USB drive
in Access. When I manually copy it , I get a message "Read Only". How can I
use Access and copy and work the file/db from my USB drive or a RW CD. HELP

Access has problems with CDs and write permissions - even RW disks.

The USB drive shouldn't have a problem. If the file actually makes it to the
USB drive, open up Windows Explorer and find the file on the on the USB
drive. Right click on it and go down to Properties. Uncheck the read only box
towards the bottom.

Good point. I teach Access classes at a local college. Corruption can happen
IF you pull out the flash drive before shutting down Access. I always warn
students to shut down Access, not just the particular database, but Access,
then remove the USB flash drive. I also recommend that they run the cursor
over the little USB icon to see if it says it's safe to remove.

Back in the day when the students used floppy disks, such corruption
happened frequently as the database would still be writing to the slow old
floppy disk and the students would eject them.
