Image cut and paste needs to have transparent background

I have to create a webpages that will have some organization charts inbedded.
I used visio to create the org charts. I could not cut and paste direcly to
frontpage (the background showed up as white vs transparent). I found that
if i pasted the visio image into Word, then from word into FP it appeared as
i wanted it (with a transparent background). All was fine locally, but when
i pushed it to the server i found the images came back as the red X.

I assumed that i would have to save the image as a file and then insert it
to the webpage - which is ok, except for I still have the issue with the
background being transparent. The transparency tool does not seem to be
active for these images.

Any ideas on how i could do this another way????

Save the image in an image editor as GIF (with transparent background).
Import the file into the web. Insert the image in the page.
