Image dimensions

Question about Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional: I want place image as first
(front) page of multipaged pdf document.
What tool in Acrobat to use to insert image? I want the image cover full
page, without any margins. Since Adobe Acrobat have very limited image
editing functions, I need first prepare this image in image editor program.
What is image size (dimensions, px) required to cover whole page, without
resizing?
