Image holder restrictions

On my report I have a 9cm x 6cm image holder. This is reluctant to
print, or display, images unless I reduce their resolution to
1024x768. Reducing them in this way reduces their printed quality. Is
this restriction on resolution by design? If not, is there anything I
can do to force the image control to accept higher resolution photos?

A good place to start looking for either answers from Microsoft responders,
or for fee support would be http://office.microsoft.com. Microsoft no
longer carries the microsoft.public newsgroups on their server; these "live
on" on other USENET news servers which carried those newsgroups.

"Image holder"? Do you mean an Image Control? Or are you using a Bound
Object Frame or an Unbound Object Frame? They are handled differently

What do you mean by "reluctant to ... ". Do you mean it shows an empty
frame? This is not behavior I have observed. When I use Image Controls, I
set the SizeMode property to Zoom. If you are using Clip, then it may only
show part of your image.

What version of Access are you using? Have you made certain that you have
all the Service Packs and updates?

There's an article at http://accdevel.tripod.com on displaying images, and
sample databases, that might be some help, but I am certain it does not deal
with the specific issue you describe.

Exactly; it seems to be related to file size. Once the file is too
big, it won't display. I have found that reducing resolution to
1024x768 allows all photos to print but we lose quality in the
reduction. I confirm these are image controls and set to zoom

Version of Access is 2010 fully patched (but the same behaviour
existed in 2007)

BTW, the photos are typically around 3MB original, and 600 - 800KB
when reduced

How do the sample image files at http://accdevel.tripod.com look in your
app? How do they look when you run the example db app in your version of
Access. I am not running 2010 yet.

Visit http://www.utteraccess.com. I know personally many of the people who
respond to questions there and have a high regard for their knowledge and
willingness to help. (Some, but not all, are Microsoft MVPs. And, having
answered a very large number of Access questions before being recognized
with the MVP designation, I know that you don't have to be an MVP to give
correct answers). If you subscribe to a news server, the USENET
comp.databases.ms-access has had some resurgence of popularity.

Questions posted to the forums that Microsoft implemented to replace the
sponsored newsgroups should get a reply, but they aren't as granular as the
newsgroups.
