Image Hot Spots with Captions: Mouse Roll Over to Display Captions?

Hi everyone.

I'm using Front Page 2002 and am not 100% how to do something, or if I
can.

I have a large bitmap image, which I've converted to JPG. I've also
created a thumbnail image of it.

I know how to place the thumbnail image in a web page, which you can
click to open up a new window with the full image.

But what I'd like to do is create hot spots in the full-sized image,
which would display a caption of some sort when you roll the mouse
over it. I'm not sure what these captions are called, but they're the
ones you see when you pass your mouse over a toolbar icon in the Front
Page program.

Is it possible to create such effects and captions with Front Page
2002? I've been reading the documentation but probably missed it.
Can you steer me in the right direction as to what tools to use to do
this? Do I have to create a special, new image from the bitmap or JPG
first?

think this is what you're referring to.
it makes it very easy.

Thanks, but I'm afraid this won't help, because I'm not using a Front
Page web, and apparently this works only with Front Page webs.

Can I do what I want just with Front Page, and no add-ins or
third-party software, and with just a regular HTML file and some
bitmaps or JPG's?

Huh?
If you are using FrontPage, don't understand what you mean by not using a
FrontPage web.

Jimco's addin works with FrontPage, which you say you *are* using.

Tom,

I'm working with HTML files that were not originally created with
Front Page.

As I understand and define a "Front Page Web," it's a network of
folders and files that are generated by Front Page. It's a
self-contained system as I perceive it.

Maybe I'm misusing the nomenclature, but I have not created a Front
Page web as I understand and perceive it. All I've done is open one
HTML file.

Let me put it this way... I open Front Page, go into the File menu,
select Open, select an HTML file, and go from there. Apparently,
because it is not part of a native Front Page web, Jim's tool is not
working.

I do not know if I've clarified this. Try opening an HTML file by
itself, without working within a Front Page web network, and see what
happens. Maybe I'm viewing all of this from the wrong perspective,
but this is the only way I can think of right now to explain what I'm
doing.

Even if you are not publishing to server that has the FP extensions, locally
you should still create a folder for all of your web content, then open this
folder with FP and let FP make it a web, then always open this web to work
on your pages, this way you will not end up with link to images, etc.
pointing back to your HD. FP is really not designed to be a "standalone"
html page editor.
