Image out of focus in Publisher 2003

I am having a lot of problems with the new Publisher 2003.
(1) I have a rather large (12 meg) file that works fine in Pub 2000.
There is a bmp in it that is still sharp in the old version but extremely out
of focus in the new. I have tried to reload the image from the old file and
it is still out of focus. I have tried to save the old as a jpeg and import
into the new with the same results.
(2) The same file will not save as a 300 dpi jpeg. The screen is black.
It does fine as a 150 dpi.
(3) If you select all and copy & paste to Word, it never completes. The
program locks up and stops responding.

All of the above work in the Publisher 2000. Any ideas?

Check format, pictures, detailed display.

Might have some corruption going on. Do you have the picture stored somewhere other
than in the Publisher document? Copy/paste is not the best solution. Does the picture
look okay if you open it in a paint type editing program.

The image is fine in any graphics program and in Publisher except Publisher
2003.

Publisher 2000 did not use compression with images, whereas 2003 does. Untie sent me
his images, after my brain started functioning, I realized the problem. The
publication printed okay...

Mary,

Just curious. Why does the compression difference affect the way the image
is viewed? Why is it 'out of focus'?

I'm not sure, he was making a poster 4 feet by 8 feet. I made two publications using
his dimensions and a simple bitmap circle. Pub 2003 file was 57 kb, the 2000 file was
267 kb. The publications were identical. I truly believe the distortion was more
because of the size of the publication. I could only zoom to 100% in Publisher 2000,
I could see the jaggies. In 2003, zooming to 800% the circle became blurred, but not
jagged.
