Image Placeholders

I have completed a website and everything appears fine, but I have noticed
that when a picture is loading it appears as a box then turns into the
picture. I don't have a problem with the time that the pictures take to
download which is a mere second or two. How can I get rid of the boxes and
just have the picture appear in their own time?

Thank you, David. My pictures already load really fast, even on dial-up. It's
just the split second of an image icon but it takes away from the
professionalism. I have checked other sites listed in this forum and they all
do it so it must be something from Publisher that cannot be fixed. Dang! FYI
- this is my site:

Thanks again, Renee

Yeah, sorry. If it really bugs you then you could import the images instead
of embedding them, but that is a lot more work.

For what it is worth, I really don't think that most people will even
notice, or consider it unprofessional. The images where you are using
borders would show the borders anyway. One of the good things about
Publisher is that it loads text rather quickly, and before all the images
load. The advantage is that your viewer almost immediately has something to
read, and that is where the focus will be...and probably should be...not on
the loading images. Also be sure to use the ALT text description in the
images, and that will show in the image placeholder while the image is
downloading. Text readers will also be able to read the ALT tags... Just my
two cents worth...

I'm not seeing this behavior...the site loads lightning fast here.

His images are well optimized and load more quickly than most. You can see
the frameholder when you are on dial-up, but you gotta look fast even then.

Renee,

It's not Publisher - all programs do it the same way. It's how the web
works!
