Image problems from Word 2003 and webpages to Word 2007

When I open a word 2003 document in word 2007, often it will only display a
black box instead of the image. Why? How can I stop this happening?

Also when I copy from a webpage and paste it into word 2007 it doesn't paste
images, just the text with a space for the graphics. I then need to go back
and copy and paste each image separately. Again I ask, why? And how can I
stop this happening?
