I have many art JPEGs and GIFs that I would like to setup so that when
students mouse-over certain areas, my comments appear, alerting them to key
considerations.
Ideally, I would like to
1. Take a GIF and insert it into a Word file.
2. Give it Imagemap-type functionality so Screentips appear as a mouse-over
occurs. I really don't even want a hyperlink, just the Screentip for the
image area.
3. Convert the Word file to a PDF and retain functionality.
I can do Imagemaps in HTML webpages with Frontpage, no worries. I also have
Digital Image Pro 10.0 which does not seem to have any capability here.
The problem is, I am writing a book in MS Word that I will convert to PDF. I
have tried simply converting the GIF to an HTML imagemap and inserting the
HTML in the Word file, which is then be converted to PDF. But the Screentips
do not work in Word or the resulting PDF.
In Word, I can insert a GIF then use transparent, superimposed rectangles
with hyperlinks and Screentips to achieve similar functionality to an HTML
imagemap. It works OK in Word (even if the screentip includes a "CTRL + click
to follow link"... statement). But when converted to PDF, no screentips
appear.
Is there a way to insert a graphic in Word and get this type of
functionality? And to have it be retained in a PDF?
Help is greatly appreciated...hundreds of images...hundreds of
images...hundreds of images...I will certainly go crazy if I had to do
something as inelegant as the above...which unfortunately is not as bad as
the thought of not being able to accomplish it.
Thank you for reading this far.
