Images don't show after publishing

Hi,

When I copy/paste text and images from Word into FP2002, everything looks
fine. When I publish to production, the images are missing. I have to then
go back and screen shot each image, create jpg or gif files, and republish.
Is there something I can do to avoid having to create each image separately
and have it publish to prod the same way it looks in test? I've got a 1500
page manual in Word that needs to be converted to html and it has lots of
images, so I don't want to have to screen shot each one.

Import the images. And don't rely on Word's placement of images.
I would create a table, copy then paste as plain text into FP, then place your images from within FP (having first imported them into your Images folder).

Did you IMPORT the images into your site before using them??? Probably not.
Are the images gifs or jpgs, I hope?
If you have so many images why don't you make a series of image folders so
they don't all go into just one folder ... such as 'chapter1images',
'chapter2images' etc. Make these folders first and them import the various
images into those folders.
There should be no spaces in the folder or image file names!! Also make sure
that your images are optimized properly for the web ...

Pardon me if I'm stepping on your post, Squarepond. I have a question.

If you have copied the images (meeting all the requirements) into the proper
folders on the site, and they are published, do you still need to 'import'?
I guess I don't understand the function of import very well.

Copying is not the same as Import, though drag-and-drop from Windows
Explorer into the open FrontPage web is the same as Import.
When you Import files, FrontPage creates/updates meta data files, and
uses this information to determine the existence, and status (publish
or not publish, new file or old, etc.) of the files. If you copy
files into the web the meta data will not be created or updated.
If the files are new (not updates to existing files), then refreshing
the web may (not always) generate the meta data; but if the files are
updates the meta data will often not be updated. Tools->Recalculate
Hyperlinks may also force an update for new files, but again not
always with updates to files.
