Images embedded in a Word document

Christophe

Hello,

I use Office 2004 for Mac. Somebody using Office for Windows sent to me
images embedded in a Word document. When I double-click the images, I get
the following error message (this is a translation from french): Unable to
locate the application server Imaging.document. Please install it using Word
installation program on CD. I don't find anything like that on my
installation CD. Can somebody help me ?

Thanks for your help,

Best regards,

Christophe

I am not sure about your specific wuestion, but as a work-around, wh
not just right click on the image and choose "Save picture as"

If you are hoping to edit vector drawings that were inserted on a PC (even
those that allow double-click editing on a PC) you will be sorely
disappointed. You will likely need to have the original source files to
make any changes.

Unfortunately, all the images are blanks and when I save the pictures and
open them in Preview, they are blanks too. When I look at the file size of
the Word document (21 Mo), they do seem to be embedded. I saw in the
contextual menu the message "object unknown" too.

It is bitmaps images (from digital cameras).

Hi Christophe,

If no one here comes up with a useful answer, try posting the question to
the French Word newsgroup: microsoft.public.fr.mac . That's just in case
there's a translation problem with the error message.

Otherwise, be sure in your View preferences that you don't have Image
Placeholders checked.

Also, try double-clicking a picture to open it in Edit mode. Then close it
again. Does that help?

Hello-

Just one more 'voice' in the thread, but based on

the images are blanks

and

the Word document (21 Mo), (which I interpret as '21 MB')

it sounds like they may have inserted eps (encapsulated postscript)
image files or perhaps another file type (such as Camera RAW?) that
Word cannot display. Depending on the file type & printer capability,
they may still print.

Hi Christophe,
If you could please send the file over to me for investigation purposes that
would be great. My email : (e-mail address removed)

Thanks,

Print doesn't work too. PNG format is selected in the save as dialog box. I
guess that means they are PNG documents.

Thanks for your help. I'll send one partial file to you.
