Images in Word

When I insert a Clipart Image or an image From File, you
cannot see the image. If you click on where it is meant
to be, a box appears round it but if you right click the
link to Format Object is greyed out. The only way you can
see the image or gain access to the Format Object is by
entering into Print Preview. If you then make any changes
to this image, when you exit Print Preview the Image
disappears and the sentence "Embed Word Object" is left.
Does anyone know how I can get this sorted please? I have
uninstalled Office 2000 and used the Completely remove
office files program and then reinstalled Office 2000 but
it is still doing the same thing.

Many Thanks

Your description is confusing: the box suggests that you have "Picture
placeholders" enabled (Tools | Options | View), but the "Embed Word Object"
text suggests that you have field codes displayed (press Alt+F9 to toggle).

Remove picture placeholders from your viewing options.
Click...

Tools | Options | View: and clear picture placeholders.
