Images no longer appear in PowerPoint

I am using PowerPoint 2003 on a laptop with 1GB RAM. I have had the laptop
for over a year and have had no issue with viewing images in PPT until
recently. When I open a large or small file, all the text is viewable but the
images are not viewable in normal view (edit area), slide show view, or notes
view. The images appear only in the sort view.
