images not showing up

P

Pam

Can someone please take a look at this page and help me figure out why on
earth the 3 new pics are not showing up? I've tried several different things
and nothing seems to work. The outline for the pics show up but then they
disappear as the page loads up and only the old pics show up. I've checked
the code, I've uploaded them umpteenth times, I've switched page
formats....what on earth is going on? I'm using fp2003, wiseftp and 1and1

any help would be so appreciated!!

Make sure the image path and filename are exactly the same case as the actual path and image
filename.

It shows that your first image is saved here:
http://www.rafter-js-bucking-bulls.com/images/2008-calves/catskol2.jpg

So the image "catskol2.jpg" should be saved in the folder "2008-calves",
which is located in your "images" folder. Be sure that the image is there.

Similarly, your second and third photo is saved here:
http://www.rafter-js-bucking-bulls.com/images/Calves/bumpsbruises.jpg
http://www.rafter-js-bucking-bulls.com/images/Calves/raisinkain.jpg

So the image file "bumpsbruises.jpg" and "raisinkain.jpg" should be located
in the "Calves" folder, which is also located in your "images" folder.

Check to make sure that you did import the images and dragged them into the
proper file. Once you're sure they are there, be sure to click Save, and then
Publish your website. After it says it has been published successfully, open
a web browser and go to your website to see if the photos show up. If they
don't, hold down the Control button and hit F5 to refresh your page. The
photos should then appear.

do they show up for you?

I've checked and doublechecked - the file paths are right - I've actually
put the jpg's in both 2008-calves AND images/calves and tried linking to
both - they just won't show up - the box holding them shows up when you
first load the page, but then as it loads, they disappear and the old pics
show up - there isn't even a box with the red X in it to show that they are
actually there?

I've also tried putting those 3 new pics on a completely seperate page
called template.htm and they do the same thing - show up as an empty box and
then no pictures once the page is fully loaded.

this is so strange - I've never had th is problem before!

Now there are only two images which don't appear: "bumpsbruises2.jpg" and
"raisinkain2.jpg". There is the box with the red x to show that you did at
least place the image on the page. Again, it shows that the images are
located here:

http://www.rafter-js-bucking-bulls.com/images/2008-calves/bumpsbruises2.jpg
http://www.rafter-js-bucking-bulls.com/images/2008-calves/raisinkain2.jpg

I'm trying to think of what you could be overlooking. Do you have more than
one folder named "images" perhaps?

Make sure that the "images" folder is not located inside any other folder.
Then inside that folder there should be another folder named "2008-calves".
Inside there, you should see the two files "bumpsbruises2.jpg" and
"raisinkain2.jpg"

^ Something here is not right (because if it were, the images would appear).
Once they are, you must save the page "calves.htm" and then Publish the
website. I can't pinpoint the problem any closer than that without actually
looking at it.

ok...I've narrowed it down to the actual pictures......for SOME reason ..
and I have no clue whatsoever -they would upload but just not show up - I
even did a test page in a totally different website, uploaded the pics and
even put them in the root directory .... no show... however, I put an old
pic in and that showed up as well as new type. SO...I opened up corel draw
(which is what I originally did them in since there is a lot of text in the
pedigree)...copied and pasted it into corel photopaint and exported them as
jpg then. that didn't work either. so I then saved the pp file as a cpt,
then copied and pasted THAT picture back into corel - and then exported it
AGAIN as a jpg....for some reason...that worked. now the pics show up. I've
been having problems with corel 9 suite with ONLY this website. I'm
wondering if its because I'm using the 'same' file for the basic pedigree
(the lines) and then pasting in the pictures and the pedigree text too many
times?

I'm wondering if this corel is all that it is cracked up to be....anyway,
thank you so much for checking for me - could you check one more time and
see if it all shows up?

thanks!

Very interesting. Yes it is working now. My dad is a big Corel fan but I've
never used it myself. But at least you were able to narrow down your problem
and see how to fix it. I'm curious, what program did you use to make your
buttons with on that website? It looks great, very professional!

Make sure that you saved them as RGB jpgs and NOT CMYK colorspace.

I did - it has to be the problem that I was saving the same original file
over and over - that's all I can figure out - although I started in pp - I
am now having to pull up the original file (the blank pedigree with blue
frame) then type in the text inside corel draw - then I export it as a jpg
... mm will have to def check that I'm not saving them as rgb ... didn't even
think of checking that - read rgb but THOUGHT jpg .. so will check that -
thanks!

and if it's the same exact file name you have to import it again and let it
overwrite the old file and re-insert it into the same layout space.
