IMAP Account automatically downloads e-mails

Hello,
We are using outlook 2000 on a windows 2000 machine connecting to an IMAP
server for an e-mail account.
Whenever the user of this machine either clicks once or moves onto an
undownloaded e-mail with the arrow keys then outlook automatically downloads
the e-mail.
We have no rules setup in the account or in outlook and no other machine
does this. Do you have any idea why this would happen?

turn off the preview pane - with it enabled, selecting a message tells
outlook you want to open it, so it downloads it.
