IMAP acting as POP.

Using Entourage in Office v.X. iBook 500 and iMac 17". iBook appears to
be OK. iMac started to do strange things about two or more months ago.
I work abroad but now home and unable to solve. Both Mac Accounts in
Entourage are IMAP. All settings appear to be the same. iMac downloads
same emails to POP INBOX and IMAP Inbox simultaneously. Emails in IMAP
Inbox are immediately transferred to IMAP Deleted Items Folder.

I have had only one response in Apple Discussions that suggested
another app. was active in POP. Mail is only other app. and is not
active. Network settings appear to be correct - same on both machines.
IMAP Accounts on both machines are identical.

..Mac Help states problem is with Entourage and not Mac Mail.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Check your rules (Tools > Rules) and Mailing List Manager entries (Tools >
Mailing List Manager) to make sure that there are no rules that are moving
messages to the local Inbox. Sometimes, if the folder association is lost,
then messages get moved or copied to the local Inbox.

Dear Mickey

Well, I thought I had checked everything! You got it in one - it was
the Mailing List Manager. There was an untitled Rule. The Rule has as a
default, "Move messages to the Inbox" (or similar wording). I deleted
the Rule and all appears well. Thanks very much for your quick comeback
and cracking result!

Now to find the sticky finger and I think I know the 10 year old it
belongs to....
