IMAP and archive

As my sole account on Outlook 2010 is Gmail IMAP is there any good reason
why I should archive anything?

I certainly can't think of any. Outlook 2010 uses a Unicode PST for caching
IMAP mailboxes, so you're not in any particular danger of exceeding a size
limit.

Thanks.
It's a while since I posted this and there do not seem to have been any
problems.
I did however come to realise that I have to keep a pop3 account on
Outlook so that there is somewhere for data such as my calendar to be
stored.
Can you confirm that this is correct?
