I
IOWeb
I am running...
Server: Windows SBS 2008 SP2
Client: Windows 7 Ultimate / Outlook 2007 SP2 / Windows Live Mail
(I have uninstalled the AV to eliminate any problems that might be causing.)
I have enabled IMAP on the server I have configured port 143 on the firewall
to be forwarded to the server I have checked via telnet that I can connect to
the server on port 143 and all seems fine.
But when I put the settings into Outlook or Windows Live Mail I have
problems connecting to the server. In Outlook when I click test settings I
get 'Log onto incoming mail server (IMAP): General authentication failed.
None of the authentication methods supported by your IMAP server (if any) are
supported on this computer.' I have set the IMAP server to Plain Text
authentication. If I hit send/receive then I get an error connecting to the
incoming server.
In Windows Live Mail I get the server has rejected your logon I have tried
changing my logon details to 'domain\username' , 'username' and
'(e-mail address removed)' all with the correct password and everyone tells me
my server has rejected the logon.
So to sum up I can't see any firewall or AV that is blocking anything, the
server is listening on port 143 yet I can not connect to the exhange server
via Outlook or Windows Live Mail.
Any ideas? Is there anything I am missing or not thinking of?
Any help is appreciated.
Regards
Gavin
