On each new Outlook (all versions, including pre-release 12) session
(regardless if it is a new windows session or not) my IMAP accounts have
their folders collapsed, forcing me to click on the (+) sign and expand them
one by one to be able to access the folders (Inbox, Sent, etc...).
Needless to say, if one has many accounts, it becomes impossible to manage
e-mail via the IMAP protocol.
However, I recently used Outlook Express and was surprised that it remembers
the last view settings and doesn't collapse all the folders on each new
session, dismissing the previous answers I had seen that this particular
annoyance is related to the IMAP protocol. It became clear that this is an
Outlook implementation issue.
I did get to use a machine with the pre-release version of Office 12 and
that behavior is still there, so I am hoping that this post also works as a
suggestion.
Am I doing something wrong? Are there any 3rd party solutions to this
annoying implementation?
